Edo Festival & Award "26
The Edo Festival UK was created to unite Edo sons and daughters from across the globe, offering them a platform to reconnect with their roots, share their heritage, and pass it on to future generations. At the heart of the festival is the celebration of Edo traditions, values, language, and creativity.
About this event
Edo Festival UK is a registered limited organisation, proudly established in 2011 in the United Kingdom. The group has its roots in the culturally rich region of Southern Nigeria, specifically the historic Benin Kingdom in present-day Edo State. Known for its sophisticated civilisation, the Benin Kingdom dates back to the 11th century and is globally recognized for its artistic mastery, bronze casting, royal heritage, and unique socio-political structure. The Edo community in the UK continues to grow rapidly, with a steady influx of Edo indigenes choosing the UK as their new home. As one of the emerging culturally and linguistically diverse African communities, the Edo diaspora in the UK plays a vital role in promoting Nigerian cultural values while contributing to British multiculturalism.
